A Global Petrochemical Organisation
Multinational Migration Programme

Oversee detailed design, implementation and testing of the storage infrastructure supporting several large SAP databases running on Solaris. The engagement required knowledge of all aspects of DMX implementation and configuration and strong knowledge of SYMCLI. As the storage and server infrastructure was installed and configured by a third party vendor, the engagement included management to ensure that the correct technical solution was installed efficiently and transitioned smoothly into operation.

Additional requirements were to provide technical storage support for the implementation of CLARiiON storage solutions supporting SAP and other applications to be migrated. The requirements covered design, standards definition, technical expertise to support third party implementation teams (EDS, EMC and IBM) and capacity management for CLARiiON arrays deployed to support the migrations.

Multinational Storage Refresh Programme

Smart421 was engaged to oversee detailed design, implementation and testing of the storage infrastructure supporting the Storage Refresh project and to provide the customer with technical assurance on the planning, implementation and migration. Smart421 provided a single point of SAN, storage and server technical expertise supporting the migration of 1000 servers to new infrastructure from retiring storage arrays.

This engagement required detailed knowledge of the storage environment, familiarity with management systems (CMDB), EMC SAN and storage knowledge; Cisco MDS, CLARiiON and DMX4 Storage arrays, understanding of server platform standards and experience of planning migrations and implementations in Large Data Centres with third party vendors.
