Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics develops cartridges for use in point-of-care patient testing machines in hospitals. It needed a more robust and reliable database system to support the increasing level of data the cartridges produced to guarantee accurate test results.

Smart421 developed and continue to support a MS SQL Server™ 2000 database, integrated with bespoke applications using the Microsoft .NET Framework. The applications provide an interface between the cartridge information on the database, testing equipment, and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags.
