Wasps get Smart - New Kit Sponsor for U-9s
Witnesham Wasps have signed up a new sponsor; Smart421, for the under-nines in 2005/2006.
Smart421 is a systems integrator with a history of providing managed IT solutions to some of Europe's largest organisations since 1989. The Ipswich-based firm employs more than 110 people who work at a variety of locations across the UK and Europe.
The Under-9s team for next season will be run by Steve Cotterell and Rob Houghton. Manager Steve commented:
"We are absolutely delighted to obtain this sponsorship - it ensures that the kids are all properly kitted out for next season. We've had an extremely successful season as Under 8s = we finished third in the Felixstowe and District A league (by one point) and runners up in the B league. We won the F&DL plate cup final and we were close losing finalists in both the Colchester Athletics Cup and Stanway Cup.
However, since obtaining the sponsorship with Smart421 it's been success all the way. We've gone on to win all the competitions we've entered, the Sizewell and Knodishall Cup, the Bungay Cup and the Needham Market Cup. This provides a springboard for next season and is a tribute to the partnership between Rob and I and the great team spirit with the boys and parents."
Rob added: "In addition to the Smart421 sponsorship my company, Norwich Union also provided money to give us training aids and further gear for the boys. Both Steve and I have completed our FA Level 1 coaching course, sponsored by the Witnesham Club, and we are both really looking forward to next season.
Witnesham Wasps provide a great support network and the assistance of Dave Farmer, Colin Richards and fellow coaches has proved invaluable in our first year of coaching.
The success of the team is further supported by a great set of parents who focus on the kids enjoying their football and ensuring that the kids come first. We are especially proud that one of the boys, Tevan Allen, is leaving us to join Ipswich Town academy and we wish him great success and he'll be sorely missed. Watch out for him in 2015."
Witnesham Wasps is a FA Charter Club and supports age ranges from under-sevens to Veterans. An active part of the club is to support the proliferation of the girls game and Witnesham are having great success in the promotion of girls football with some strong girls teams already established and winning competitions.
