Smart421, the systems integration and managed services specialists, announces today that its managing director, Neil Miles, has been appointed director of the Martlesham Innovation Centre (MIC).

Mr. Miles joins business and academic leaders from the East of England in the initiative which aims to foster hi-tech companies and build on the success of Adastral Park, BT’s research and development headquarters. It has already attracted more than ten major IT suppliers and six spin-out companies as well as specialist organisations engaged in venture funded spin outs, IP management and outsourcing.

The site hosts research units of four universities, and BT and its partners on site are engaged in the development of a wide range of products and services including 21CN - the next generation broadband network based on the growing convergence of voice, data and computing technologies.
